22. The Gumbo-eatin’ Gambler
The talented and lovable woman-of-comics Kt Shy asked for a Gambit waaaay back at the beginning of the month, and I’ve been thinking about how to draw him ever since.
I wanted to do an updated Gambit look, something more modern and sensible, but Gambit is so STEEPED in the Lee/Claremont 90’s-ness that to try to remove it is to kill the patient. So let’s accept, enjoy, and celebrate this ridiculousness.
‘Cause dey don’t make ‘em like Gambit anymore, chére.

My day has been made! The uber talented dapper gentleman of comics, Jake Wyatt, is drawing a daily Marvel character this month and Gambit was my request. Gambit’s one of my big pre-teeny comic book crushes, alongside Nightwing (and 90’s Superboy for a super brief period of time… I REGRET NOTHING!)
